Pennsylvania Auto Insurance

Pennsylvania  Auto Insurance

A Pennsylvania auto insurance policy is generally comprised of two parts.  The first part provides coverage for people and the second provides coverage for the vehicle.

The first component includes your liability, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverages.  These coverages provide benefits for either you and your family (uninsured and uninsured motorist coverage) or the other driver and their passengers (liability coverage).

The amount of coverage you purchase should be reviewed with your agent so all of your assets are properly covered should you be involved in an accident in which you are sued.

The second part of a Pennsylvania auto insurance policy provides coverage for your vehicle if you opt to purchase comprehensive and/or collision.

Comprehensive provides coverage if your vehicle is stolen, vandalized or is damaged by flood, fire, deer or if your windshield is damaged.

Collision provides coverage for your vehicle in the event you actually collide with another vehicle or an object.  In the event of a claim, you pay the “deductible”.  The higher the deductible, the lower your premiums will be.

There are ancillary coverages that should also be reviewed with your agent such as medical payments, income loss, death benefits, towing and rental.

Be sure to tell your agent of any 65-Alive driver classes, good students in the household and any student driver training courses as these discounts will be applied to your Pennsylvania auto insurance policy as well.

Also, if you carry an umbrella policy, you should tell your agent to avoid any “gaps” in your insurance program.
